About me

My name is Eero Helenius. I live in Finland.

I've been writing computer programs for a living since around 2010. I've been paid money to write Ruby, XSLT, JavaScript, PHP, Scala, C#, F#, and other languages. Since 2017, I've done most of my programming using Clojure and ClojureScript.

I've worked extensively on both the backend and the frontend. Apart from writing code, I've always had somewhat of a DevOps slant. I've deployed programs into both on-premises environments and the cloud.

The most rewarding part of making computer programs, to me, is figuring out the actual problems people want those programs to solve.

In my free time, I enjoy climbing, gravel cycling, trail running, and making programming tools for my own use.

While I've made career in programming, my background is in humanities. I graduated from the University of Tampere with a degree in English philology in 2014. I wrote my master's thesis on J.D. Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye.
